Geisinger Behavioral Health Centers offer acute inpatient treatment for adolescents ages 13-17 and adults age 18 and older of all genders who have behavioral health disorders. Our multidisciplinary teams of mental health professionals provide care in safe and welcoming environments with your healing in mind.
Our unique setting
Geisinger Behavioral Health Centers are state-of-the-art inpatient behavioral health facilities located in Moosic and Danville, Pennsylvania. Our spacious therapeutic settings feature patient rooms designed with comfort and safety as the highest priorities. Additionally, we offer clean, dedicated spaces for recreation, experiential therapies and group and individual therapies.
What we treat
Our experienced teams are committed to providing high-quality and compassionate care for every person who receives services at our inpatient facilities. People who have symptoms of mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can find psychiatric treatment at Geisinger Behavioral Health Centers.
Sometimes, mental health concerns can contribute to the development of secondary substance use problems. If someone does not receive care for a mental health disorder, they may turn to substances as a way to self-medicate or alleviate distress.
At Geisinger, we are prepared to help you with any co-existing substance use disorders that occur secondary to a mental health concern. Additionally, we are equipped to help adolescents and adults who have intellectual or developmental disorders in addition to mental health disorders.
Comprehensive Programming
Geisinger Behavioral Health Centers offer comprehensive programming that fully considers the needs of every person receiving services at our facilities. We offer individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, experiential therapies and medication management services. All our programs are led by knowledgeable and compassionate teams of behavioral health professionals, including:
- Psychiatrists
- Psychologists
- Certified physician assistants
- Certified nurse practitioners

All therapies are driven by principles of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), 12-Step group therapy and motivational interviewing. These therapies can help adolescents and adults who have mental health concerns:
- Develop effective coping strategies
- Challenge inaccurate thinking related to mental health concerns
- Learn problem-solving skills
- Discover practical tools to manage their symptoms during their stay and beyond
- Build emotion regulation skills
- Develop strategies for improving relationships and communication
- Identify goals
- Overcome barriers to change and find meaning in their lives
Our group therapies provide a supportive and nonjudgmental environment for patients to share support with peers who have had similar experiences and develop a sense of accountability and community. Individual therapy provides support in a private, one-on-one environment.
Age-appropriate treatment
Adolescents and adults might have similar mental health concerns but require a different approach to treatment that considers their unique developmental and psychosocial circumstances. Adolescents ages 13-17 and adults age 18 and older can both benefit from the evidence-based treatment options at our inpatient treatment facilities that cater to their specific mental healthcare needs.
It is essential to recognize the different care required for these populations. At Geisinger Behavioral Health Centers, adults and adolescents alike have the opportunity to participate fully in every element of their care. Everyone who enters our acute inpatient treatment centers receives a personalized, comprehensive treatment plan that considers their unique needs and goals.
