Geisinger Behavioral Health Center Northeast offers acute inpatient treatment for adolescents ages 13 to 17 (coming fall of 2024) and adults ages 18 and older who seek treatment for acute symptoms of behavioral health disorders. Our multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals provides care in a safe, welcoming environment.
What we treat
Our experienced team provides high-quality, compassionate care for people with mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Mental health concerns can contribute to the development of substance use problems. We’re prepared to help with any co-existing substance use disorders. And we’re equipped to help people who have intellectual or developmental disorders in addition to mental health disorders.
Comprehensive Programming
Geisinger Behavioral Health Center Northeast provides comprehensive, personalized programming. We offer individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, experiential therapies and medication management services. All our programs are led by a knowledgeable, compassionate team that includes:
- Psychiatrists

- Case managers
- Mental health and creative arts therapists
- Peer supports
- Occupational therapists
- Dietitians
All therapies are driven by principles of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), 12-Step group therapy and motivational interviewing. These therapies can help patients:
- Develop effective coping strategies
- Challenge inaccurate thinking related to mental health concerns
- Learn problem-solving skills
- Discover practical tools to manage symptoms during their stay and beyond
- Build emotion regulation skills
- Develop strategies for improving relationships and communication
- Identify goals
- Overcome barriers to change and find meaning in life
Our group therapies provide a nonjudgmental environment where patients share support with peers who’ve had similar experiences and develop a sense of accountability and community. Individual therapy provides support in a private, one-on-one environment.
Age-appropriate treatment
Adolescents and adults might have similar mental health concerns but require a different approach to treatment that considers their unique developmental and psychosocial circumstances. But both groups can benefit from our evidence-based treatments that cater to their specific mental healthcare needs.
All patients participate fully in every element of their care, and all receive a personalized, comprehensive treatment plan that considers their unique needs and goals.
Lasting healing
Discharge planning begins at admission. From the moment you walk through our doors, we’ll help prepare you for a future of lasting healing and resiliency. It takes courage to reach out for help for symptoms of a mental health disorder, and you can trust that Geisinger is here to offer lasting support, even after discharge.
Beginning on day one of treatment, our team will help you recognize the gifts and strengths you bring to the world. We’ll help connect you with a support system so when you leave our center, you won’t be alone. Our case managers can help you find traditional outpatient services, rehabilitation services, intensive outpatient programs and partial hospitalization programs.
